There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1) Pray this prayer of confession believing you will be forgiven and with grace accept God’s gift of forgiveness.
Merciful God, in baptism you promise forgiveness and new life, making me a part of the body of Christ. I confess that I remain preoccupied with myself, separated from sisters and brothers in Christ. I cling to destructive habits, hold grudges, and show reluctance to welcome others; I allow the past to hold me hostage. In your loving kindness have mercy on me and free me from sin. Remind me of the promises you make in baptism so that I may rise to new life and live together with others in grace. Amen.
