Advent is a time of great expectation. The Old Testament told us of the coming of Christ – Emmanuel – who would bring the “light” into our darkness. Christ is our light. On the first Sunday in Advent we have hope in our light – our Savior, Jesus.
“The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who lived in a land of deep darkness—
on them light has shined.”
Isaiah 9: 2
