In the beginning, the Spirit of God hovered over the waters and brought forth life.
At times, the spirit of God was seen as a dove – a symbol of
peace.
At times, the spirit of God blows like wind, or sings like breath – God’s breath.
On the Day of Pentecost, the Spirit of God appeared as
tongues of tire, igniting the church.
Through the prophet Joel, God promised to pour out the Spirit on all people – men, women, young, old.
Come, Holy Spirit, life-giver, peacemaker, wind and flame prophets. I invite you into
my place.
Come, Holy Spirit, breathe on me, I pray.
